The module also covers the competencies and responsibilities required to undertake Functionally Equivalent Design and the controls that are required not only to ensure that designs are robust but also that suitable infrastructure records are maintained.
Purpose
This module defines design production and management process for situations where minor alterations and renewals are required to be carried out on the existing commissioned signalling infrastructure that do not introduce any new functionality to the signalling system.
By following this process and controls, personnel undertaking Functionally Equivalent Design will not be compromising the safety and integrity of the signalling infrastructure and will be creating adequate records in order that the infrastructure can be correctly maintained.
