Introduction

Once the scheme plan is substantially complete, and before it is submitted for approval, the Network Rail operations manager's representatives should be counselled at an informal pre-approval meeting at which the signalling facilities and operating requirements are reviewed. Certain items would be better agreed before commencing full scheme design, as part of a feasibility study or OPS.

The scheme plan or the general notes should be amended accordingly. Any decisions taken should be recorded in the design specification, or supplement thereto (see NR/L2/SIG/11201, Module A4), together with the reasons for the decisions.
