Scope of Document

This document describes how to install the current build standards of UIC54 and RT60 HPSS systems, for all approved switch sizes. There are a number of steps that are common to all switch types and sizes; however where there are specific variations relating to a particular switch type / size these are highlighted within the procedures.

HPSS testing shall be carried out in accordance with Network Rail procedures as referenced in HPSS Handbook (Ref: 18.1).

This document excludes HPSS maintenance procedures (refer to HPSS Handbook).

This document contains references to manufacturing part numbers, referred to as M/f Pt No., and are for STE-TDT use only.

Scope of Equipment

Specific variants of the HPSS which are covered in this manual are:

• HPSA fitted on UIC54 switches.

• HPSA fitted on RT60 switches

• PowerLink Backdrive fitted on UIC54 and RT60 switches.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide the procedure for the installation and setting-up of the High Performance Switch System (HPSS), comprising the High Performance Switch Actuator (HPSA) and the PowerLink Backdrive.
