This process is issued by the Professional Head (S&T) as the function with asset responsibility for operational signals and telecoms equipment. As the majority of keys are required by Maintenance, Project and Operations staff, the day to day process and authorisation for release of keys is delegated as described in the following sections.

The process includes all keys used to access signalling and telecommunications operational equipment.

Purpose

To explain the agreed process between Network Rail and Unipart Rail for control of S&T key issue.

To control the issue of S&T keys allowing access to operational signalling and telecoms equipment so that only competent people can access sites and minimise risk to the operational railway.
