This standard provides a minimum performance level for high quality Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) to improve passenger safety and station operation, and to combat crime, terrorism and disorderly behaviour.

This standard sets out the requirements for the design, installation, coverage and testing of VSS and equipment on Network Rail's infrastructure, i.e. stations, station car parks, depots and lineside.

This standard does not define any requirements for the design and installation of Driver Only Operation (DOO) VSS, level crossings or any other safety-critical video systems, including body-worn camera systems.
