This standard applies to Infrastructure Investment Civils project works that affect or could affect assets maintained by the Route Infrastructure Maintenance Director's team (as well as telecoms assets), and includes, but is not limited to:

a) Major Planned Works

b) Earthwork Repairs and Renewals

c) Structure Repairs and Renewals

d) Minor (Planned) Works

e) Civils Asset Maintenance Works

f) Temporary Works

g) Bridgeguard Works

h) Unplanned and Emergency Works

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to standardise the "Infrastructure Investment Civils" approach to the allocation of asset maintenance responsibility during project works. This standard approach requires an annual Project Asset Management Strategy to be agreed with each Route Infrastructure Maintenance Director; the strategy will define the initial programme of works and general interface arrangements between the Maintainer and Infrastructure Investment Civils. Only those projects that affect (or could affect) Maintained Infrastructure require a Project Asset Management Plan to record project specific interface arrangements.

This standard is intended to support Infrastructure Investment Civils project teams discharge their responsibilities as defined in Network Rail Company Standard NR/SP/MTC/088 ‘Responsibility for Maintenance of Changed Assets'.
