This module applies to all events including an operational close call/irregular working:

a) occurring on Network Rail managed infrastructure (NRMI);

b) occurring on Network Rail managed stations;

c) occurring on Network Rail - Rail Infrastructure Development Centre infrastructure (RIDC);

d) involving Network Rail employees whilst on duty;

e) involving employees of contractors whilst undertaking work for Network Rail.

This module covers all events including operational close calls/irregular working i.e. that have the potential to cause loss or harm. 

This module does not affect or amend a line manager’s responsibility for takingappropriate action to maintain safety of the operation or a location.

Purpose

This module provides a consistent, comprehensive and structured process within Network Rail for the risk ranking events including operational close calls/irregular working, their reporting and level 1 investigations.
