An accident is defined as any unplanned event which causes:

• Loss of life or injury to a person, and / or

• Loss of or damage to material assets, and / or

• Loss of or damage to data, and / or

• Financial loss.

PURPOSE

This instruction must be followed in conjunction with section 2.3 which contains the principle instructions for incident management. Controllers must make sure that, in all incidents, priority is given to ensuring that adequate practical response is provided to the incident.
