The requirements of this procedure apply to any person competent to carry out the role of a level crossing keeper and those involved in the management of these individuals. This procedure applies to the following level crossings (depending on types of crossings worked):

• Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC)

• Automatic Barrier Crossing Locally monitored (ABCL)

• Automatic Open Crossing Locally monitored (AOCL)

• Obstacle Detector (OD)

• Close Circuit TV (CCTV)

• Remote Controlled Crossing with Barriers (RC)

PURPOSE

This procedure allows Network Rail to confirm that those who operate level crossings are competent to do so.
