INTRODUCTION

To confirm that the all types of ET400 tuned areas can be allowed to operate in track where continuous “base plate boltless check rail” type 33C1 BCRS has been, or will be installed. Also what the affects will be on the tuned area operation.

The investigation will confirm the effects on the operational tuned zone characteristics of the track circuits tuned areas and whether this tuned area can be adjusted to compensate for the changes in the rail electrical parameters.

The report will, should the conclusions allow, define the installation and operation, advise the design installation and testing to be carried out during maintenance and installation of track circuits within these areas.
