This document applies to all level crossings maintained by Network Rail. It covers both the non-technical inspection and repair activities for those level crossing inspector/maintainer individuals within the Track Maintenance Engineers (TME) organisation. It does not include specialist maintenance inspections of level crossing assets required by the company technical standards for Track, Signalling and E&P.

Purpose

This document details the process for the requirements of NR/L2/SIG/19608, specific to the non-technical inspection and repair of level crossing, are planned and delivered.

Due to the cyclic nature of work, this process should be constantly used to enable adequate planning of the required work on a week by week basis, an annual basis and inline with the Work & possession planning on the railway infrastructure process (see NR/L3/MTC/0056).
