This standard covers all line speeds and applies to:

a) the construction of new sections of track where MTP is specified;

b) the renewal of track where MTP is already specified;

c) new MTP design on existing track;

d) alteration of track position where MTP has been established or there is an aspiration to implement MTP; and

e) infrastructure works on or adjacent to MTP Track.

The requirements for Absolute Track Geometry are covered by NR/L3/TRK/0030.

Purpose

There are safety, performance and financial benefits to managing the geometric position of track to an approved design alignment. The purpose of this document is to provide:

a) a more robust means of control for controlling track position and the associated gauge clearances and interfaces with other fixed assets; and

b) a process for specifying, installing and maintaining track to a Managed Track Position (MTP).
