This standard applies to revised inspection and maintenance regimes for plain line track system assessed using the Reliability Centred Maintenance process (NR/L2/MTC/10662) of the following assets on running lines:
a) plain line flat bottom Continuously Welded Rail (CWR) – Regardless of PLPR status;
b) line speed 125mph or less; and
c) axles loads 25.5tonnes or less.
The scope of this standard excludes:
d) switches & crossings;
e) bull head rail;
f) adjustment switches;
g) jointed track;
h) buffer stops;
i) slab track;
j) long timber bridges;
k) complex or non-standard layouts;
l) off track features (fences / none track drainage / vegetation); and
m) non-running lines
NOTE: These excluded assetsl continue to be inspected and maintained as mandated in modules NR/L2/TRK/001 unless bespoke Risk Based Maintenance regimes are agreed and implemented as per NR/L2/MTC/10662
The scope of this standard excludes the following inspections:
n) Track Maintenance Engineer inspections
o) Super Red’ inspections
p) ‘Very Poor’ eighth inspections
Purpose
This standard defines alternative inspection and maintenance regimes to those mandated in NR/L2/TRK/001 based on the application of Risk Based Maintenance (RBM). This simplifies the implementation of Risk Based Maintenance regimes detailed in NR/L2/MTC/10662/05.
