This SIN applies to all Signal Engineering functions that maintain, install or commission signalling relays on the network. Its requirements also apply to organisations that handle STS Signals Ltd relays in the course of supply.

Purpose

Evidence has emerged that BR 930-series relays may have been supplied by STS Signals Ltd inadequately set and tested, but bearing normal test labels and security seals. This SIN requires all relays within the affected batch to be located and visually checked and, if necessary, removed from service or the supply chain.
