The principles laid down in this document give the preferred method of determining designations for use on all future Electrification schemes.
If an alphanumeric system exists within the area, the using or maintaining organisation may elect to retain this. If so, reference shall be made to them for the designations to be used. Where possible the principles contained herein shall still be retained for an alphanumeric system.
