• carrying rail traffic over roads and navigable waterways,

• over the railway.

PURPOSE

This document defines:

• the procedures to be followed by Railtrack Line to reduce the risk of bridge strikes to as low as is reasonably practicable,

• the procedures to be followed by Railtrack Line to enable trains to pass safely over or under a bridge following a Bridge Strike,

• the requirements for recording and reporting Bridge Strike incidents.

This Procedure is to be read in conjunction with Railtrack Line Specification RT/CE/S/222: Requirements for the Management of Bridge Strikes.
