This Specification applies to Waterproofing Systems to be used for waterproofing all new Underline Bridge decks and for the maintenance and repair or replacement of Waterproofing Systems to existing Underline Bridge decks.

This Specification does not apply to Waterproofing Systems for road bridges and Underline Bridges constructed by thrust boring or tunnel techniques when external faces are inaccessible for the application of waterproofing, or to other parts of Underline Bridges such as below ground surfaces and abutments.

PURPOSE

This Specification details the performance specifications, and testing, certification and product registration requirements for Waterproofing Systems to be used on Railtrack's Underline Bridge decks.

Recommendations for the selection, preparation for, and application of, Waterproofing Systems compliant with this Specification are given in RT/CE/C/001: Waterproofing of Underline Bridge Decks.

Use of Waterproofing Systems compliant with this Specification will ensure compliance with GC/RT5110: Design Requirements for Structures, Clause 8 in respect of materials and the process for the approval of new materials.
