This specification applies to all running lines on which vehicle-based track geometry recording is to be carried out. Generally, the term "running lines" includes loops but excludes sidings and terminal platforms. The running lines concerned and, where applicable, crossovers between them will be defined in the Infrastructure Monitoring Contract.

PURPOSE

This specification defines the performance requirements of the system to be employed on Railtrack's running lines to record track geometry. It specifies the parameters to be measured and the on-board reports which are required, and sets out the interface specification for uploading data into existing management information systems.

Track geometry recording is subject to the provisions of Railway Group Standard GC/EH0038 Track Recording Handbook This specification interprets and enhances certain provisions of that Standard.
