This Specification states the requirements for physical access routes (vehicular and/or pedestrian) to all substantial buildings, i.e. substations, feeder stations, track paralleling huts etc, collectively termed 'Part 1' locations, and to minor equipment locations, motorised switches, controlled track isolators etc. collectively termed 'Part 2' locations.

It is intended that the requirements of this Specification are considered at the earliest opportunity during the development of an electrification project, thus optimising equipment location with respect to this Specification whilst minimising expenditure on access routes.

The Specification does not include installation or commissioning.

Purpose

This document is the Technical Specification for physical access routes to trackside buildings and remote sites associated with an a.c. or d.c. traction network.

The document is to be read in conjunction with the relevant Procurement Specification.
