The contents of this specification apply to the equipment listed in Appendix A. For each item of equipment a corresponding Signal Maintenance Specification is listed in the column titled DOCUMENTS IN USE. It is the documents listed in this column that are to be used for signal maintenance activities.
It should be noted that specifications highlighted in grey in the DOCUMENTS IN USE column are from the BR SMS (Blue Book) and must continue to be used for the respective equipment to which they refer. It is expected that these specifications will be superseded by new ones in the RT/SMS series in the near future.
An associated specification RT/E/S/10661 contains the maintenance task intervals and RT/E/S/10662 details the process to be followed to support changes to those intervals.
PURPOSE
This specification mandates the use of the Signal Maintenance Specifications and introduces the series. An index to the series is included.
