This specification applies to new d.c. traction switchgear installed on the D.C. Electrified Lines.

Purpose

This specification states the requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of withdrawable d.c. switchgear for use in d.c. traction substations and track paralleling huts for the control and protection of d.c. traction power supplies having a nominal voltage in the range 650 V to 750 V. The requirements cover track feeder circuit breakers, rectifier circuit breakers and, when specified in the procurement specification, bus section isolators.

This specification does not apply to d.c. disconnector switches for traction rectifiers which are specified in RT/E/S/21023.
