This Specification covers the procedure for the following stages of the amendment process:

(a) identification of the need for amendment;

(b) production of the draft amendment;

(c) validation of the draft amendment;

(d) agreement to proceed;

(e) production and distribution of the final amended documents.

It does not include the training or familiarisation of staff in the application of the amended documents.

Purpose

This document specifies the procedure to be followed throughout the Railtrack electrified system for the amendment of Isolation Documents, together with associated timescales for the process, in order to comply with the requirements of Railway Group Standard GM/RT1006.

The purposes of this procedure are to ensure continuing electrical safety once a discrepancy has been discovered in Isolation Documents, and to ensure that the documentation is amended without delay

This document is written with respect to equipment which has already been brought into operational use, and is therefore under the maintenance responsibility of the IMCO. The process however is equally applicable to new works, and therefore to installation contractors

The document is to be read in conjunction with those documents listed under Appendix A.
