Purpose
This instruction covers the retensioning for all types of 25kV Fixed Termination Overhead Line Equipment and deals with the Contact Wire and the Catenary Wire separately.
The minimum tensions permissible and the values to which the equipment is to be retensioned are shown in Appendix A; the equipment is to be retensioned if not within these limits.
Before retensioning the layout of the tension length must be considered with regard to its effect on other equipment and appropriate line blockages and isolations arranged. The Contact Wire diameter at in running locations is to be recorded and considered in relation to the minimum size. The opportunity should be taken during the work of examining all fittings removed from the wires and the wires under these fittings for corrosion and burning.
N.B. In the event of the Catenary Wire and the Contact Wire being retensioned during the same work period, Items 2.1.2, 3.1.2 and 3.1.4 and sections 2.2 and 3.2 will be carried out together.
