The Fire Precautions Manager's duties and responsibilities outlined in this Handbook relate only to those premises occupied and/or managed by Railtrack PLC.

PURPOSE

The Fire Precautions Manager's Handbook is designed for use by Fire Precautions Managers (FPM's) and other Local Managers who have the responsibility for the management of fire safety within premises and buildings.

It provides a mix of mandatory instructions, best practice guidance and general information on the management of fire safety.

Not all Sections of the Handbook will apply to each premises as buildings vary in size, risk and use.

Whilst this Handbook spells out the responsibilities of FPM's it must be remembered that fire safety, as with all other aspects of safety, is the responsibility of every employee.
