This procedure shall be applied to all Railtrack owned UWC, and bridleway crossings, and for the inspection of footpath crossings.

Purpose

To enable the determination of reasonably practical controls of safety risks at owned user worked crossings (UWC) including those fitted with miniature warning lights, and bridleway crossings to ensure that they are documented, the controls maintained and hence compliance to the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992 demonstrated.

To mandate inspection forms for completion at these types of level crossings, which will then support the risk assessment. The bridleway inspection form is also to be used to record inspections of footpath crossings.
