This procedure shall be applied to all user-worked, footpath and bridleway level crossings on Railtrack controlled infrastructure.

Purpose 

To enable the determination of reasonably practicable controls of safety risks at user-worked level crossings (UWC) including those fitted with miniature warning lights, and at footpath and bridleway level crossings on Railtrack infrastructure.

To ensure that the controls are documented and maintained, and hence compliance to the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 demonstrated.

To mandate inspection forms for completion at these types of level crossings, which will then support the risk assessment. The bridleway inspection form is also to be used to record inspections of footpath level crossings.
