Introduction

This document defines the technical standards required to ensure that IECC data is prepared, compiled, released and built (with the IECC software) in such a way as to minimise rework due to errors or misunderstandings.

It is assumed that the data preparers' organisation already have their own quality procedures, preferably to the ISO 9001 standard. This document defines the organisation of the main computing facilities which are required for data preparation together with procedures to ensure the end product is auditable.

It is assumed that the Automatic Data Preparation (ADP) tools and utilities are used by the data preparers. For those still using manual methods, the necessary amendments to data and procedures are highlighted but the detailed data preparation methods are not discussed.

The document is split up into four parts :-

(a) Requirements and organisation of the main computing facilities;

(b) Data preparation through use of the ADP tools and utilities;

(c) Control of data releases; and

(d) Build procedures and generation of EPROM sets and CD-ROMs.

It should be noted that this document does not discuss the control of source data and desk checking of data. It is assumed the former is covered by the data preparers' own organisation's quality procedures, the latter is discussed elsewhere in this Manual.
