Purpose and Background

This document is the User Guide for the Technician's Terminal Logger Recorder (TTLR), the PC based replacement for the Penny and Giles (P&G) tape logger and the VT100 terminal.

NOTE During the P&G replacement programme, TTLR was defined as Technician's Terminal Logger Replacement, this is now superceded by the current definition.

PC technology permits usage of magneto-optic (MO) removable storage media with far greater capacity than P&G quarter inch tape (QIC). The TTLR replicates all the functionality offered by the P&G and VT100 terminal and offers a number of enhancements. The TTLR also provides greater versatility, improved reliability and simplified maintenance.
