Introduction

The TI 21 track circuit system was introduced to the UK before the use of steel sleepers on main lines was common and, as a result, design and installation documents did not cover their use together. In recent years, a number of sites have been equipped on a trial basis. Those trials have been successful and this Instruction converts their status to full acceptance and gives guidance for future installations.
