This TI applies to the campaign change programme being carried out by the appropriate delivery units that have Aster track circuits and managed by the RAM (S&T) for the applicable route. It shall not be used for any other changes. The Sites that this and the supporting TI can be applied to have been identified within the campaign change remits / investment papers. This does not automatically mean that the change can be made, as each site shall be assessed to consider the viability of doing the campaign change by the RAM (S&T).

This TI also mandates that Aster equipment removed from Operational use shall be decommissioned in a controlled way and shall be returned in an operational condition to Strategic Spares via NDS.

Purpose

This Technical Instruction provides the process to be followed in the campaign change of Aster Type U/SF15 to Aster21 track circuits using EBI Track 200 modules . It provides the information and guidance required to enable the maintenance organisation to make a judgement on whether they can carry out the work. This TI shall be used in conjunction with the Campaign Change Test Plan TI 160.
