This standard defines the minimum activities and conditions for the performance of periodic safety inspections on lifts, lifting platforms, stairlifts, escalators and moving walks in order to maintain the safety level. NOTE Other inspections of lifting appliances, e.g. inspections carried out following incidents/accidents, or following alterations or modernisation may have varying levels of scope. Such inspections are adapted to the installation concerned, but the content of this standard may be used as a basis.
