Presents a study in which a building energy simulation code, DOE-2, is modified to include lamp replacement costs. Performs a parametric study to determine the cost-effectiveness of switching off unused fluorescent lamps. States the results show that for the cases studied, switching is indeed cost-effective by a clear margin, despite lamp replacement costs.
