Describes a technique developed for determining building total end-use energy-consumption profiles applied to a large (1.7 million ft) institutional office building. The technique combines 15-minute demand profiles (billing data) with intensive short-term metering and one time measurements to develop electrical end-use profiles. States thee data are useful to identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency and may be applied to quantify the effectiveness of a major shared energy savings project at a building. Describes the entire process employed from initial site survey through presentation of results. A specific protocol was developed for this building and its unique characteristics. States intensive metering was accomplished over a 10-day period with nine data loggers and a set of hand-held instruments. The resulting data sets were processed, combined and extrapolated into end-use estimations. Presents the estimated end-use profiles and the limitations of the approach.

KEYWORDS: Buildings, energy consumption, energy conservation, monitoring, metering, electricity consumption
