The use of the equation contained in Appendix D of ASHRAE Standard 62-1989 to estimate outdoor air ventilation rates, may result in erroneous values since within the typical office space there exist many more complex configurations. The parameters of the equation are shown to be variable and each one needs to be quantified separately before outside air ventilation rates can be accurately calculated.
