Field experience has demonstrated that gas-fired, low-intensity infrared equipment provides an effective, efficient means for heating high buildings with large volumes.

A tabulation of data has been assembted relating to buildings across the country, which vary in height from 20 to 65 feet and which are equipped with gas-fired, low-intensity infrared equipment. In all instances, the heating equipment in these structures consists of burners firing in series and capable of being operated in the condensing mode.

A review of the system design records for these buildings demonstrates that the practice of applying an adjustment factor to the calculated heat loss when sizing the heating system is supported by performance.

The performance of these installations with burners in series also demonstrates the energy-efficient operation of gas-fired,low-intensity infrared equipment. Feedback has been provided by the user that comfort has been maintained with the specified equipment.
