Energy Management and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in the Far North PDF

Newfoundland and Labrador form the youngest province in Canada, having joined the Canadian Federation in 1949. Prior to this, Newfoundland had the distinction of being the oldest British colony, established in 1497. It stretches from Cape Chidley in the north of Labrador at latitude 62° to Cape Race at latitude 46° on the Island of Newfoundland, some 2000 miles. Its 150,000 square miles are home to 500,000 people. As can be imagined, the geography of the province ranges from the snow-covered landscape of Labrador, which sees ten months of winter, in the north, to the Island of Newfoundland, which, while rugged and challenging, nevertheless has lush valleys in which farming is the mainstay. The two main population centers of the province are St. John's (the oldest city in North America) with a population of 105,000 and Corner Brook with a population of 30,000.

Memorial University of Newfoundland is the only university in Newfoundland and Labrador. It has campuses in St. John's and in Corner Brook, as well as Harlow, England, and St. Pierre et Miquelon, France.
