In-space electric storage heaters have been used in Europe for many years. With the growing popularity of time of day electric rates in the U.S., several Americanized versions have become available. In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, there are now over four hundred operating installations. This paper will discuss the initial R&D, storage market economics, and a research program on a low cost system not currently available in the U.S.
