An apparatus was constructed to measure the solubilities of refrigerants in compressor lubricating oil. Measurements were made for Refrigerant-22 (R-22), R-502, and R-12 in an alkylbenzene lubricant from 70–260°F (21–127°C) and 25–500 psia (170–3450 kPa). The data correlated well with a method based on theoretical considerations. This correlative method will allow reliable interpolation and modest extrapolation of experimental data.
