The rapid move to "decarbonize" buildings is primarily a conversion of building heating to electric power. The nation's total power generation is supplemented from Canada each summer during peak loads. Buildings utilize 40% of total energy, changing over to electric sources for heating and domestic hot water is up to 20% of that usage or 8% of new demand on generation. This is in addition to an already strained electric grid. This presentation provides insight not only into the current power generation situation but also the distribution side of utility delivery. These are issues that will affect us soon.
