This specification covers a premium aircraft-quality, high-strength, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, flash welded rings, and stock for forging or flash welded rings.
These products have been used typically for parts requiring through hardening to high strength levels and when such parts may require welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP 1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
