A brief summary of advanced manufacturing technologies (AMT) developments in Spanish industry is given. Attention is mainly focused on the Basque region (Northern Spain). Three major difficulties to the Spanish AMT enhancement and suggested corrective actions are emphasized. Finally, two examples of AMT teaching courses, one for the post-graduates and the other for undergraduates, are reported.
