The objective of this powerpoint presentation was to develop a biological filtration
approach to address excessive levels
(>1 to 1.5 mg N/L) of ammonia in raw
water, and maintaining aerobic conditions
throughout the biological filter. Background information is provided on ammonia/nitrification in
distribution systems, along with a map of US Geological Survey National Water Quality
Assessment Data, filter design, study design and test water, sampling schedule, and results for nitrite and nitrification, nitrates, pH during complete conversion, and finished water quality.
