This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting a brief overview of the presentation, including the following:
new epidemiology studies;
regulatory context and constraints;
balancing and simultaneous compliance;
regulatory development;
possible regulatory implications;
issues needing clarification; and,
which regulatory approach. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: analytical techniques are becoming more
sophisticated, but are still in research stages;
we are able to see very low levels of many DBPs;
occurrence data are limited because of the absence
of standards and robust analytical techniques that
can be used nationally;
lack of these analytical methods also limit studies on
mechanisms of formation and on treatment;
health effects studies are not keeping up with the
analytical work;
we need to continue the research to better understand these
emerging DBPs relative to the "established" DBPs; and,
respective indicator value relative to epi findings is critical. Includes table, figures.
