This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting a brief overview of projected climate changes in Australia. Government responses to climate change are presented, along with several case studies that include the following: Western Australia Water Corporation's (WAWC) 2007 commitment to long term
extended Capital Works Program; SE Queensland
Western Corridor Recycled Water
Project; and, Gippsland Water Factory. Presentation conclusions indicate the following:
greenhouse is here and requires response;
WAWC was the first to experience severe effects;
the first round of responses by utilities has been
proactive and appropriate;
public expectations have been raised with
requirements for high performance by utilities;
costs and charging structures have been re-raised as an
issue;
Australian farmers and WS companies do not yet have a
response; and,
Australia is lucky as most urban populations close to
the ocean. Includes figures.
