This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the impact of drought and presents drought preparedness ingredients. Shared Vision Planning (SVP) is a
collaborative approach to formulating
water management solutions that
combines three disparate practices:
traditional water resources planning;
structured public participation; and,
collaborative computer modeling. Two drought modeling tools are presented:
MS Excel based Shared Vision
Planning; and,
GIS based WEAP. The dashboard feature of the Shared Vision Model is presented, along with the following stages of drought: visioning; decision-making; shortage indicators; and, EDC drought plan indicators and triggers. A comparison of SVP model
and WEAP model applications is provided, along with indicators of initial and ongoing success. Includes figures.
