the results from assessment of climate
impacts on supply and demand, and
Seattle Public Utilities'
adaptation options. Presentation conclusions indicate the following:
climate change would result in decrease in available
supply if no change in operations;
would need new source of supply some time after 2050;
conservation has and will play a huge role;
cultivating expansive list of adaptation options, initial
focus on technical, behavioral and political;
technical - significant untapped flexibility in current system;
behavioral - 15 mgd of conservation through 2030;
political - significant collaboration on multiple fronts;
enhance flexibility of existing system, leverage
adaptation options before making major infrastructure
investments; and,
opportunity to expand our spheres of influence. Includes figures.
