This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Indio Water Authority (IWA) in the Coachella Valley in
Riverside County, California. Project background and purpose include the following: Indio has been supplying water to the community for over 50
years, but the IWA was formed in 2001; continued growth without further impact to the overdrafted GW
basin - "Net Zero" impact; assist IWA in understanding water resources and water use in
the Valley; identify viable opportunities to diversify water portfolio,
determine "preferred alternatives" - high priority for
implementation; and, efforts culminating with development of an Integrated Regional
Water Management Plan (IRWMP). The project approach is presented, along with Valley water resources key issues, and the key elements of sustainability plan
