This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Indian Wells Valley Water District in California's Mojave Desert, influent water characteristics, and a Zero Liquid
Discharge (ZLD) Treatment Train. Pilot project objectives include: demonstrate feasibility of selected
treatment train; demonstrate how primary reverse osmosis (RO) and
secondary electrodialysis
reversal (EDR) can achieve
predicted recovery with minimal
fouling; and, evaluate the effectiveness of a
reversible RO configuration. Topics presented include: limiting the volume of brine for final
treatment reduces cost; and, comparing water costs indicates that
costs are reasonable given water
quality and inland location. Includes tables, figures.
