One of the greatest challenges facing utilities today is the transformation of
their organization through integration of their business functions to form core
business processes. This paper describes how the Colorado Springs Utilities Water
Resources Department, Collection and Distribution Services Division of Colorado
Springs, Colorado, links its business processes by the application of information
technology and how new systems were integrated with old. The paper focuses on the
use of an Advanced Integrated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System
(AISCADA). Includes figures.
