The Alameda County Water District of Fremont, California, has been using the JD Edwards Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for its financial record keeping and management for several years. It is in the process of adding a maintenance management module to the system, and investigating the implementation of other modules in the ERP system. Since a significant fraction of its enterprise data is in the ERP's database, the District has begun to consider how its other information technology systems can be integrated with the JD Edwards ERP. The centralization of its data has enabled the District to reduce its data maintenance and management costs. The ERP system also defines a framework into which other applications in use by the District can be integrated. This paper discusses Alameda County Water District's efforts to integrate its maintenance management and ERP systems and centralize data. Includes reference.
